Men, your new wardrobe awaits you!

Do you feel lost and unsure about your outfit, while choosing what to wear for a date or party? Well, choosing an outfit can be scary at times, but with the right pieces in your wardrobe, you have nothing to be worried about!

You don’t need a lot of pieces to look stylish, instead, you need a few pieces you can style in multiple ways. Your wardrobe needs to be a reflection of your personality and something which makes you feel comfortable and confident. Building a wardrobe to suit your requirements isn’t that difficult.

Follow this guide to create a wardrobe to suit your needs.

1. Topwear:

The first step would be to determine your top wear.

Depending on your everyday requirement you can choose shirts, t-shirts or a mix of both. As a good measure, you can have 7 shirts and 6 t-shirts that fit you well. Make sure you have classic colours like white, black, grey, navy blue and olive green in your top wear. You need to add some colour to your wardrobe with colours like pink, mustard, maroon and red. Dark, single-breasted, and only slightly tapered are the keys to a good jacket for big men.

For your everyday formal look, you can choose plain or striped patterns for your top wear. For an informal look, you can choose shirts and t-shirts with small prints or checks. You can use these limited pieces in several different ways. Use your informal shirts to layer with your t-shirt inside to amp up your party look. You can even layer your t-shirt with a sweater over it. The styling possibilities are endless!

2. Bottomwear:

Once you have shortlisted what you want to wear on top, you can choose your pants accordingly. While choosing your pants, keep your fit and occasion in mind. Choosing pants that are too tight or too loose can spoil the look. While shopping for pants to build your wardrobe, you can have 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of trousers and 2 formal pants. For your jeans, choose basic and clean look jeans in navy blue and black. These colours are very basic and can be paired with several pieces.

For trousers, you can choose from chinos or joggers as per your vibe. You can opt for colours like beige, white, black, navy blue or olive green. If you want to add more pattern to your wardrobe you can choose a checkered trouser in a neutral colour scheme as well. For formal pants, always choose classic and timeless colours like black, brown, navy blue or beige. With these few pairs of pants, you can create several looks from day to night and even formal to informal.

3. Festive pieces:

Every wardrobe should have a couple of festive pieces that can be worn during any festive celebration or party. Having 3 kurtas and one blazer will do the trick. If you have a bigger budget, you can purchase a formal suit. You can wear your kurtas with jeans or even invest in a straight fit pant/chudidar that goes with all your kurtas. A pair of white pants should do the trick. Buying a pathani kurta, a short kurta and a slightly more heavy kurta made of silk will cover you for all occasions.

For kurtas, you can choose brighter colours like red, orange, yellow, green, blue and so on. While choosing a blazer, stick to a neutral colour and a timeless pattern. You can dress up your blazers with a fancy shirt inside, but your blazer should be something that will be in style for at least 5 years. Opt for black, grey or navy blue and make sure it fits well!

4. Seasonal and Party pieces:

If you live in places with cooler temperatures you can experiment with layering. You can add 2 sweatshirts and a hoodie to your wardrobe. For your parties, you can add a bomber jacket and a puffer jacket to your wardrobe. Your bomber jacket can be funky and give a very relaxed vibe. Opt for colour block, floral prints or bolder colours, basically anything you feel comfortable with. Your shirt or t-shirt inside your bomber can be neutral and basic.

For men who live in warmer climates, you can use denim jackets or a shacket (shirt + jacket) to dress up your outfit. For your bottoms in a warmer climate, you can add 2 pairs of shorts in bright summer colours to complete the look.

5. Accessories:

Men should accessorize too, it is no longer a girly thing. You don’t need to overdo it or invest too much time into accessorizing. Your wardrobe should consist of a watch, 3 pairs of good shoes and a formal accessory. While choosing a watch, you don’t need to invest in an expensive watch. Just a good classy watch that suits your wrist and lifestyle.

Coming to shoes everyone should have at least three pairs of shoes - an everyday pair of casual shoes, a formal pair in black or brown and lastly a pair of white shoes or sneakers. These three shoes can be styled with several different outfits and occasions. For your formal accessory, you can choose between a tie, pocket square or a brooch as per your requirements.

Summary:

Topwear - 7 shirts and 6 t-shirts.

Bottomwear - 2 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of trousers and 2 formal pants.

Festive pieces - 3 kurtas and 1 blazer. (Optional - Suit)

Seasonal and party pieces - 2 sweatshirts, 1 hoodie, 1 Bomber or denim jacket.

Accessories - 1 watch, 3 pairs of good shoes and a formal accessory.

With these pieces, you will have the perfect basic wardrobe that can be used in multiple different ways!

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to go shopping.
